New Sergeant-at-Arms for SAM 38!

Kansas City SAM 38 President Larry Poague announced the Dale Huffman has taken over the duties of the club's Sergeant-at-Arms during the club's April meeting. Huffman takes over from Mike Melito who ably maintained those duties.

Phil King was presented with a certificate for winning the March 2008 close-up competition.

President Poague also discussed the club's next Day of Magic. It will be similar to organization to the first Day of Magic, and will feature four lectures, dealers tables, and a dinner-and-show. He said the club's board is looking for input from the members. Some of the possible lecturers discussed were: Jeff McBride, Harry Anderson, Jason Andrews, Steve Daley and Oscar Munoz.

Club t-shirts were also discussed. High on the list of possibilities are polo-style shirts bearing the club's logo. The board is also looking for input on the shirt idea as well as a logo for SAM 38 for the shirts and other club use.

Athena Stringfellow reported that 115 meals were served at the Ages of Magic Dinner Theater. The dinner raised $400 for the club.

Dealers Eddie Pease and Laird Wilcox presented their wares during the dealer demo-introduction portion of the meeting.

Mike Melito taught a slick card peek during the teach-a-trick session.

In the close-up competition, Phil King came out on top again, doing a three-phase routine with a think-a-card, card prediction and concluding with a monte-style routine. Also competing with Phil were Eddie Pease with a poker demo routine, and Laird Wilcox who performed a reveal-a-card and four-ace routine.

No one competed in the stage competition.

In the open competition, Dale "HuffDaddy" Huffman performed a variation on Tom Craven's "Damn Good Trick."
