Meeting Minutes: August 2010
Shaun Rivera opened our August meeting. He announced a plethora of activities. Including lectures from Shoot Ogawa and Jimmy “cards” Molinari. Also announced was a field trip to the Ren Festival and a busker event. The monthly quiz winner was Mike Debrot. He knew the intricacies of the SAM organization as well as the first close up magician according to Max Maven – Matt Schulen.
For our teach a trick we saw Jim Steinmier’s 1:00 mystery by Shaun Rivera where the prediction of 1:00 is what was exactly what was chosen by the spectator. We also had a drawing for a pair of Ren Fest VIP winner, which was Duane Roberts. We also had a drawing for a coin in a bottle and invisible deck. Kevin Emerson was the winner this month.
The performances were started off by Kevin Emerson doing a prediction from a newspaper and Direct TV add with all the channels available and then a prediction using a shredder with possible dire consequences. Mark Stillwell did an “outstanding” card effect where by random choices the entire deck of cards were dealt out with cards matching their mates in the deck. Duane Roberts did a random number selection that identified a specific card at the chosen number in the deck. The last effect was by Shaun Rivera who did a tribute effect for JC Wagner who had just passed away. It was a great evening.
